Rowlands Castle Painting Society have had some excellent evening demonstrations recently where the audience learnt many useful tips from each artist.
Rowlands Castle Painting Society formed in 1970. We would like celebrate our longest serving member of The Society, David Collier.
David said “I joined the Society in 1978/79 season as an Artist wanting to have my work exhibited in more locations and RCPS gave me that opportunity.
My art started with pencil drawings in 1952 when I was 11 years old, then in 1963 I started painted in Oils. When I joined RCPS I started painting in watercolour as well. I love these two mediums, which I still use to paint my subjects of landscapes, tidal creeks, Cornish coasts, Italian lakes etc. which I have exhibited in galleries and locations throughout Hampshire, West Sussex and Cornwall.”
David served on RCPS committee from 1986 until 2003 as Vice Principle. During this period he was also Acting Principle for one year and Chairman for three years . David found from the beginning that the society was very friendly and helpful, which is something RCPS have always tried to continue over the years.
David said “ I am still a member of the Society because of the friendly atmosphere and the fact that as an Artist you should never stop learning.”
